Following up on my entry about talent... Did you happen to read the opinion page in the Star Gazette yesterday? Newspapers close to turning page on history was written by a Watkins Glen High School Student - Margaret Amisano - who is a member of the Star Gazette Youth Editorial Board.
Margaret does a great job in talking about the under 40 demographic. She touched on several issues involving communication and how different modes of communication has changed and evolved with younger generations.
It is clear that there is a trend and younger people thirst for faster communication at their finger tips. From text messaging to email on blackberries to news (and blog) feeds to social and professional networks. It's here and it's here to stay... and will continue to evolve in the future.
Also with the thirst for communication comes the desire to be connected. You see this with myspace.com, facebook.com and linkedin.com to name a few.
Several organizations, communities, businesses and individuals have recognized this as they try to capture younger people and get them engaged in events, activities, volunteering, etc.
Did you know the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce has a myspace page? How about Soul Full Cup? Ithaca events? Corning, NY? How about Congressman Randy Kuhl and Eric Massa?
Pipeline 4 Progress has myspace and facebook. BTW (by the way) you can get to all the pages referenced above from the P4P myspace or facebook page!
Aside from mikefullerblog.com... I also have facebook and linkedin.
If you have a page or site feel free to connect with me.
