Today I was on the P4P myspace page... and ran across a new member - an entrepreneur - Round 1 Productions - Beau Kester. Now here is a young professional - he is 24 - who makes short movies and music videos. You should check out his work.
He is located in Horseheads, NY.
This experience made me think about some of the other talented individuals we have living in the region. There are many.. I have met a few...
- Sean Lukasik... somewhat selfish in mentioning him as I work closely with him at the Fuller Group... but he had a small part in one of the short movies I watched by Round 1 Productions. Sean also writes and plays music. He's an actor. And he balances his work and personal life and still has time to volunteer in the community. Sean is President of TTYP and active in P4P.
- Peter Wallin... Entrepreneur and owner of Wallin Insurance. But that's not all. Peter is also an author. He wrote and published "In Pursuit of Business - sell more, grow more, earn more... live more". You can purchase his book from his website or on amazon.com
- Joe Brennan... who at 22 ran for public office and won. Joe is a Chemung County Legislator and one of the youngest County Officials in NYS.
- Audrey Szychulski... who at 28 is the Executive Director for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. On top of that Audrey teaches and is quite involved in the community through a number of organizations - Corning Rotary being one. Audrey is originally from Philadelphia, PA but she chose to make Corning, NY her home - where she owns her house.
- Jeremy Hogan... owner of JH Design. Jeremy decided to start his own business and take on the risks (and benefits) associated with being an entrepreneur. Jeremy just purchased a house in Elmira. He is very involved in the community and volunteers for a number of activities and events - including Be Pink.
- John Meier... who owns several businesses ranging from advanced manufacturing to packaging to construction equipment. John is one of the top innovative entrepreneurs I know. He owns a family of companies - http://www.warddiesel.com/ - http://www.cepcotool.com/ - http://www.sepac.com/ (just to name a few!).
We have something great here. I've only mentioned a few people. The list could go on and on. Young professionals don't always get the recognition for their contributions and neither do older professionals or retired individuals for that matter.
Recognizing successful talent and individuals is very important and it serves as a tool in attracting and retaining talent in the region. We need to do a better job of recognizing successful people in the future.
